Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion
Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion: Part of the Kosho Core Concepts Series comes a very important course Kosho Bunkai: Art of Discussion. What makes this so important? First is the term "Bunkai" is misunderstood. It is taught today very often as an interpretation for movement in Kata. But if I teach you an interpretation I am teaching my view of the Kata. I am trying to give you an absolute. And Bunkai is a "discussion" about a topic, not an absolute.
And today discussion is not welcome. But for the survival of the teachings of old, the real teachings Bunkai is critical.
Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion
This course will be a Bunkai on Bunkai. We are going to have a discussion.
And this discussion will be focusing on the Octagon, Natural Laws and Concepts with a reference point of Kata. And I promise you this will blow your mind. The purpose of discussion is to bring forward ideas. Not dictate ideology.
Kosho Bunkai: Art of Discussion will be very different from any course you have taken before. But it will be one of the most important and rewarding. It will give you the chance to see things within your root art, whatever that art is, that you have not seen before.
And how can I say this? From that of personal experience and the experiences of those I have taught before.
What is in Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion?
- How to examine a Kata to understand its meaning
- Understand stances, and the reason they are not what you think
- Samples to train with to find your own meaning
- How to open the mind to learn more always
- And much more!
Bunkai, the art of discussion is very much a lot art today. And I believe that bunkai should be part of every martial arts Dojo. And I do mean Bunkai, not just lecturing. That also has an important place in teaching. Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion to my way of thinking is essential in the building of a strong group of students within a Dojo.
When this is done they feel like they are participating in something much larger than just them. And this builds a strong and lasting Dojo, plus longtime student.
Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion why it matters so much!
Back a few years ago I had a YouTube like platform I created for students. It was connected to an international network called the "fedaverse". There was a young lady with a channel who was very much into sharing er reflections with the world.
I watched some of her videos and occassionally commented in a positive manner. But soon I began to realize she was brainwshed by the "socialist/communist" ideology. I was hoping to have a conversation with her about her belief's and thought. She refused all attempts stating she was "not will to discuss her ideology unless I agreed with her."
For her, because she is apposed to discussion to Bunkai no hope to learning. And this is the reason social media is not social, and the world is in so much trouble today. The shutdown of Bunkai, discussion.
Contemplate this for a few minutes and consider the importance of real discussion to the world. It is not about being right, but learning and sharing.
Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion
This is part of the Kosho Core Concepts Series as I mentioned above. While each course is pretty much stand alone you do need to have taken the 1st course, the Introduction to Kosho Ryu first as a prerequisite. Without this basic understand you will have a lot of challenges with this information.

Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion
Martial Arts training should not be looked at as an activity. It is rather a study. And a study that lasts for a lifetime. The world is in the trouble it is in today because people are not educated, they are indoctrinated. Therefore they regurgitate information that is not truth, but part of a narrative.
And the martial arts world has been affected by this also. Thus the believe that ring fighting and feats of physical prowess are the only way. There is no truth to this idea. These things have value, but are only a fraction of the entire picture.
Learning is for a lifetime.
How often have you heard someone say that they are "too old for" something? There is not truth to this as age is a state of mind. Anyone can do the Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion. Age is a state of mind.
Too many martial artists my age have relegated themselves to talking about their glory days at a coffee shop, or worse social media platforms. Remember to "Never say Never" or "Niciodată să nu spui niciodată" in Romanian. You are never to old to learn, and as an example I am learning a language to the point of certifying as a speaker in my 60's. And I consider this to be part of my martial arts training!
Kosho Ryu is the study of natural laws, and language is who we communicate and teach those laws. Age is a state of mind. But if you are trapped in the idea that martial arts is ONLY physical, a victory at a tournament then you grow old. Relegated to talking about the glory days at a Pizza Hut as Hanshi Juchnik states it. And this course on the Kosho Bunkai Art of Discussion is an important part of learning and study.
